We spent every afternoon lounging on the rooftop between excursions and watched the sunset during happy hour with an intimate group of cruisers we befriended. On our sea day, when the pool was most packed, the lounge remained an empty reprieve, and we certainly felt like RockStars with our whims catered to at every turn. The Brilliant Suite measures 482 square feet and looks like an expanded version of the Seriously Suite. The extra space allows for a modular couch that can double as a bed; this suite can sleep up to four. Its balcony is slightly longer than the Seriously Suite's, meaning it can offer the larger Champagne table of the Brilliant Suite. They measure 185 to 225 square feet, including the 45-square-foot terrace.
A sea change for all
Indulge in sumptuous menus curated by Michelin-starred chefs, get involved with innovative onboard events and gigs, or recharge after a night out with a range of onboard wellness and fitness programs. Offering indulgent, adults-only journeys, this revolutionary cruise line is redefining cruise travel. The diversity was evident with and felt by the passengers and crew, and it seemed everyone was simply happy to be together at sea. I miss Valiant Lady and her crew and hope to sail with Virgin Voyages again soon. We didn’t feel like we had to dress to the nines or that meals were completely over the top when dining every evening.
Too hip or just right? Here's what it was really like sailing on Virgin Voyages for the first time
But we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival, as the suite was filled with plenty of space to accommodate all of our clothes and toiletries. Get a taste of luxury at the 20 onboard eateries, covering everything from Michelin-style dining to late night snacking. Or if you’re looking for some rest and relaxation time, book into the onboard spa and enjoy some time for you. There’s no party like a Virgin Voyages party so make sure you pack your dancing shoes and head to the onboard nightclub. The Posh Suite measures 833 square feet, with living and sleeping areas divided by a wall.
Virgin Voyages Tips and Things to Know Before You Sail
By far, our best Experience was a day sailing to the Pitons in Saint Lucia, where we stopped to snorkel and dropped anchor in a quiet yet colorful bay for local eats and Piton beer. Although we didn’t stay in a RockStar suite, which are at least double in size, feature a bottomless in-room bar, and have marble bathrooms with Peek-a-Boo showers (and sometimes a bathtub), we did get RockStar VIP access. Beneath one bed were two large drawers, and the closet/armoire featured another set of drawers so that everything had a place. We couldn’t fit our suitcases under the beds, but because of all the drawer space, we could fit them into the closet. While the vanity space in the bathroom was almost non-existent, we used two baskets from the closet to hold our toiletries on the shelf below the sink to keep things organized and within reach.

If you Google Virgin Voyages, you may find earlier articles indicating that adults-only cruises are meant for raunchiness. My friend’s husband read too many comments about “swingers,” “in-cabin toy packages,” and other tales that made him wonder why we chose Virgin. We, and the people we met on board, laughed at those exaggerated stories. Some Sea View cabins come in slightly different configurations, especially the rooms located where the ship's superstructure juts out at an angle. We toured one of these practically V-shaped rooms, which had one rectangular window rather than a full porthole. The window was on the same wall as the bed and chair, and the opposite wall had the desk, mini-fridge and mirror.

As of 2023, Ares had ~US$49,2 billion of AUM/assets under management. In 2020, Virgin Cruises officially started operations (from Miami Florida USA) with the 2800-passenger Scarlet Lady. Three more sisterships were inaugurated in the following years - Valiant Lady (2021), Resilient Lady (2022) and Brilliant Lady (2024).

On the other side, the master bedroom has privacy behind sliding doors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Just behind, the marble-tiled dressing area features two closets and a soaking tub; turn the corner to find the rest of the bathroom, complete with the signature windowed shower. If you love your hammock so much you can't live without it, you can buy one on board. The custom-designed hammocks are handwoven by women in rural Thailand and sold by Yellow Leaf, an organization focused on community transformation and female empowerment. It's not a lot of storage space — perfect for one, manageable for two and likely impossible for three or four. Despite some underwhelming aspects here and there, such as some design choices we didn't love and a very crowded pool area, we had a great time.
But its list of itineraries in the regions is now peppered with longer voyages of six to eight nights. Then there are a number of sit-down restaurants serving anything from upscale Mexican to Italian, steak, and more. These spots typically require reservations (though walk-ins are welcome) and fill up quickly. It’s your choice where to eat, and you can dine at whatever time you are able. There is no assigned seating or dining rooms like on many other cruise lines. As you’d expect given the atmosphere on the ship, that “cool” factor extends to the cabin.

Sometimes bar tab credit is also included with the sailing as part of a promotion. The company doesn't follow any traditional cruise dining concepts. Virgin ships don't have a main dining room, buffet restaurant, dress code (formal wear policy), assigned dining times or seating. All these concepts were replaced with intimate (boutique hotel-type) eateries offering 20+ dining options - all of which are included in cruise fares.
Favorites included the fresh Mexican fare at Pink Agave, and Gunbae, a Korean BBQ experience where you’re able to cook some of your own food. Each restaurant also features “Treat Yourself” options for an additional charge, think lobster, steak and oysters. Initially, Virgin Voyages only offered shorter sailings of five or fewer nights to the Bahamas and Caribbean.
Virgin Voyages' cabins sport a minimalist look with futuristic touches, and its suites exude a rock-n-roll vibe with in-room turntables and peekaboo showers. Virgin Voyages does not simply give its amenities and activities quirky names — like "Lick Me Til Ice Cream" for the onboard ice cream shop. The overall experience is a bit different than what you'll come across on traditional cruise lines.
While I appreciated the array of options at our disposal, I found the quality of the food and service to be hit or miss. Some restaurants I loved so much that I went back a second time; at others, I took a solitary bite of food before deciding to move on. Given all the options available, there were more places than we could try on our first Virgin Voyages cruise. Still, we sought to sample as much as possible during our four-night sailing. Beyond the evening entertainment, the vibe was similar to what you'd find in Las Vegas.
All the way forward on Deck 15, each of the two Massive Suites lives up to its name, coming in at a whopping 2,147 square feet. You enter the main living area with a circular couch seating area and a full bar. To one side is the music room, which can double as an extra bedroom; the suite sleeps up to four — that is if you don't stay up rocking out on the provided guitars all night.
But with at least one more vessel joining its fleet over the coming year, its destination offerings are growing. A pair of one-way, 15-night trips between Singapore and Australia will bookend the Australia and New Zealand sailings. Scheduled for November 2023 and March 2024, the two sailings offer overnight stays in Bali and calls at Airlie Beach, Cairns and Darwin in Australia. As with Virgin's Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries, its Mediterranean itineraries are specifically designed for fun-seeking travelers looking for a late-night experience.
After its initial summer cruising in the Mediterranean, the vessel will reposition to Australia in December for a series of 11 sailings ranging from five to 14 nights. The Croatian coast-focused itinerary, called Adriatic Sea and Greek Gems, also includes several late-night stops. For a line with so few ships, that makes sense, as the Bahamas and Caribbean account for the biggest chunk of demand for cruises.
With at least one live performance nightly in the ship’s theater, there’s a good chance you won’t be able to catch them all. No one understands what voyaging with us is like better than our Sailors. So instead of going on about everything that makes sailing with us an epic experience, we’ll let them do the talking. Change the name on your voyage up to 48 hours before you head out if you can’t make it, or want to change whoever is sailing with you. We've taken care (of taking care) of your servers, so we cover the gratuities for your onboard experiences.
